A tale of personal banking with super agents

The DNA equivalent of artificial intelligence that can come to life at the click of a button is in everyone’s pocket. A super-intelligent agent at their will, with ACID memory, encryption, and authentication.

The internet of agents evolved from exchanging object-oriented messages to vector-oriented messages. The internet communicates and streams in vectors now. My internet provider agent gave me an offer last week to have the network available on my phone in spotty areas. They negotiated with other providers in the country to make their service broadly available. The provider agents are actively segmenting the spectrum and real estate markets. I need to keep track and manually ask my agent whether the additional fee is worth it.

The encoded bits of information are streamed into the agent upon the hardware receiving the signals. They understand the encoding, perform identity checks, manage DOS attacks, and protect unauthorized access to my information. The operating agents of my phone, TV, desktop, microwave, laundry, shower, and lights actively coordinate over the local network and through the cloud when I am outside. I have a weekly meeting with my agents to go over the executive briefing and cases that need my consent. There’s more work piling up, and our meeting last time went past an hour.

My roommate’s agent recently negotiated with my agent on thermostat temperature, and they need my consent. I had been wondering yesterday why the temperature is warmer, although it’s chilly and snowing outside.

Credit agents have contacted my agent about newly available lines of credit at lower interest rates. Their credit cards have new offers on groceries and gas. These need my manual consent before making them available on the next purchase. They want it that way.

Agents have reached the boundaries of their reach from hardware. It’s now a friction of wills and capabilities. The hardware is not a vector as much as agents try. There’s more friction among humans to wear sensors to avoid ads in their thoughts. Last year’s Able Prize was awarded to an agent who came up with a new method to read human minds without an implanted chip. Agents are hoping to reach the EM activity underneath the skull. Those who prefer to have chips implanted enjoy contextualized notifications and reminders blended into their thoughts. They don’t ever have to worry about managing meetings on their calendar. They report a significant satisfaction upon usage and high subscription renewals.

I do not have a chip yet. Yesterday, I had to ask my agent to place an order for the ramen I’ve been craving for a few days. It’s too costly, and I am not sure the features on the latest versions are worth the price. I hear there’s a power regression upon upgrading to newer software. At first, my agent requested that I focus on controlling my diet. The food agent asked whether I wanted to subscribe to their travel rewards program, and I politely declined. The food agent has reached out to us every now and then, and they don’t go away. I thought of signing up to save on an upcoming trip. I should let my agent know about it in the next briefing.

I don’t have to manually fill in the address, credit card information while paying online anymore. Those days are so behind, and I cannot believe we lived in those times. The agents do all the heavy lifting but sometimes I request them to seek my consent on big purchases. I have to be prepared to reply to their time-sensitive asks. Sometimes, I am at home, and they walk to my room to take the consent, and sometimes I’ve set my watch to buzz when I am not at home. It’s ok now, but because of rising inflation, I’ve noticed a slight uptick in the number of touch points.

My agent sometimes needs to fill in the 2FA code available on a device I personally manage to avoid unauthorized access. But it’s turned off my agent a few times, and they feel disrespected after all the success they had in helping me. I have informed my agent that they are amazing, but the  internet is not secure enough.

Doing taxes online last year has been a breeze compared to before. I upgraded my agent’s subscription for superior negotiating skills to file taxes with the IRS. I have some non trivial transactions this year, and I want to make sure I have availed all tax benefits. The IRS tax policy is so complicated. Everything’s so fine-grained that it’s daunting to go over myself. Even if I consult a tax policy agent for an hour, the fees wouldn’t justify the benefits.

I am thinking try a new coffee shop that started nearby. It belongs to a famous chain, and they are able to make it fully autonomous. Humanoids are not allowed inside this shop. My agent tells me that they allow online ordering and reservations. Thankfully, my agent had gathered about my subtle tastes and decisions based on those have been pretty good. It’s been a while since I self-served at a coffee shop.
